Retaining Wall Module

Design or check retaining and basement walls quickly

Module Description

Retaining Wall is a deceptively simple program that can design or check just about any retaining or basement wall in minutes.

Design walls constructed of cast-in-place concrete or masonry. These can be cantilevered or supported on the top and bottom. Because footing components (toe, heel, and key) are optional, program will design irregular walls that other programs cannot.

Supports a wide range of loads: in addition to lateral soil pressure, loads can be placed virtually any place/direction on the wall or soil.

Technical Specifications

  • Designs cast‑in‑place or masonry retaining walls with the flexibility to handle tapered concrete stems or multi‑thickness block walls.
  • Accepts a wide range of real‑world loads — full or partial backfill, vertical and horizontal surcharges, wind on fences, point loads on soil or wall surfaces, and more.
  • Evaluates the wall at ten sections along its height, ensuring complex loading patterns are captured accurately instead of relying on oversimplified single‑section checks.
  • Provides robust stability analysis: sliding resistance from friction, cohesion, and passive pressure — and automatically designs a key when additional resistance is needed.
  • Displays complete analysis results — pressures, forces, moments, shears — in either mode for full transparency.
  • Includes optional shear‑friction design for the stem‑to‑footing joint per ACI 22.9.
  • Produces a to‑scale graphic of the final wall configuration, including loads and soil pressures, ideal for reports and client communication.
  • Supports US and metric units.
  • Built to deliver fast, accurate, and builder‑ready retaining wall designs.
