General Section Properties Module

Calculate section properties for virtually any shape

Module Description

Calculate the centroidal axis locations, moments of inertia, radius of gyration, section moduli, and product moment of inertia for virtually any shape.

Shape definitions can be constructed using general shapes (circles, triangles, etc.) as well as standard shapes (wide flanges, tubes, etc.).

General Section Properties also computes the section properties of reinforced concrete and composite members.

Technical Specifications

  • Computes section properties for virtually any shape — built‑up sections, standard steel shapes, bolt groups, cracked reinforced concrete, weld lines, shear walls, and full composite sections.
  • Goes far beyond geometry‑only tools like AutoCAD by delivering true structural‑engineering‑grade properties tailored for real design workflows.
  • Build sections using up to 100 individual parts — rectangles, triangles, circles, arcs, AISC shapes, rebar, lines, and even fully arbitrary shapes.
  • Define voids to model holes, cutouts, and open spaces with precision.
  • Generates clean, portable Word‑compatible RTF reports, giving you long‑term accessibility and professional documentation.
  • Flexible US/metric units and user‑defined defaults streamline repetitive work and reduce setup time.
  • Simple one‑file project structure keeps everything organized and easy to manage.
  • Sold as a stand‑alone tool — no need to buy a full structural suite just to compute section properties
